I was allocated a surgeon through the NHS for my breast cancer treatment. The procedure involved a mastectomy on my left breast and a reduction on my right breast for symmetry.
The combination of rest and gentle exercise worked really well for me during recovery. It's about finding that balance between giving your body time to heal and gradually building your strength back up.
One of the most important things I learned is that healing takes time. Real, deep healing doesn't happen overnight, and that's something I wish I'd been more prepared for mentally.
Rest combined with regular gentle exercise. Finding the right balance between these two was key to my recovery. The gentle movement helped prevent stiffness while the rest allowed proper healing.
That it takes a long time for your body to heal. I mean really heal - not just the surface wounds, but deep tissue healing. Be patient with yourself and don't rush the recovery process.
