What to expect during your recovery

Most surgeons recommend wearing a post surgery bra continuously for the first six weeks after breast reduction or uplift surgery, moving to a soft wire free bra during the day from around six weeks. The exact timeline will depend on your surgeon's guidance and how your body heals. Many of our bras are designed with multiple stages in mind — offering higher compression in the first weeks and a softer, more comfortable fit for longer term wear. What bra should I wear after a breast reduction?

Your surgeon will advise on the specific garment they recommend, but generally you will need a front fastening, wire free compression bra from the day of surgery. The bra should offer firm support to minimise movement and be adjustable to accommodate swelling. How long should I wear a post surgery bra after an uplift?

Most surgeons recommend wearing a post surgery bra for a minimum of six weeks after a mastopexy or breast uplift. For the first two weeks it is typically worn around the clock, transitioning to daytime wear from around week three. After six weeks many women can move into a soft, wire free everyday bra. Always follow your own surgeon's guidance as timelines can vary depending on the extent of surgery and your healing.

Yes. We offer specialist post surgery bra fittings at our showrooms in Maidstone and London Cavendish Square, as well as virtual fittings from anywhere in the UK. Can I claim VAT exemption on a post surgery bra?

Yes. Many of our post surgery bras are eligible for VAT exemption if you have a qualifying medical condition or are purchasing as part of your surgical recovery.
