My lumpectomy experience through the NHS was more challenging than I anticipated. While I'm grateful for the medical care, the recovery was difficult.
Not every surgery experience is straightforward, and I think it's important for people to know that some recoveries are harder than others. Everyone's journey is different, and that's okay.
I'm sharing this because I want others to know they're not alone if they're finding recovery tough. It's okay to acknowledge when things are difficult.
What I Wish I'd Known Beforehand
The pain level. I wish someone had been more honest about how painful recovery could be. Everyone's experience is different, but being mentally prepared for the possibility of significant pain would have helped me cope better.
